Our firm represents the Israel Association of Senior Housing Residents since its establishment 2 decades ago. The Association is recognized by the Ministry of Justice as the consumers’ association of the retirement homes’ residents in Israel. As such, we also represent residents’ committees of various retirement homes.
For over a decade our team including Adv. Zeev Weiss and Adv. Dana Malihi-Hakmon were deeply involved in the drafting and enactment of the Retirement Homes Law. This was done in cooperation with representatives of the residents (the Association), the Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Welfare and the retirement homes and included discussions at the parliament (Knesset) and the proceedings that led to enactment of the law and the Retirement Homes Regulations.
Furthermore, our lawyers led, representing the Residents’ Association, the enactment of revolutionary regulations for the protection through security of the deposit moneys deposited by residents with the retirement homes, which amount to billions of shekels.
Our lawyers represent residents entering retirement homes in negotiations of the contract terms and advise residents on their agreements with the retirement home owner.
We also represent the Association and retirement homes’ residents in legal proceedings in Courts, including the Supreme Court, Court for Standard Form Contracts, District Courts and Magistrate Courts, as well as in complex and multi-partied mediation proceedings. We handled various lawsuits in this field, obtaining precedential judgments in favor of our clients.
